Located in the heart of Cuba St, on the corner of Cuba St and Dixon St. The Big Kumara offers a relaxed, friendly, fun and safe environment to come have a great night.

Made famous by students and kept famous by good people looking for a good night out. The staff are friendly and the patrons are always up for a chat and keen to make a new friend.

The Big Kumara features two different rooms:

The Pub is cozy bar with Kiwiana posters on the walls and comfy couches and booth seats. A great place to come earlier in the night to enjoy some superjugs of cold beer or a good bite to eat. It turns into a party at night with live bands, music videos and the odd DJ playing.

On Tuesday and Thursday night respectively you can have a game of poker , or play the Quiz " and win bar tabs.

The Club is a more modern bar which can be hired out for private functions. It features a large bar and big dance floor and stage. The Big Kumara's famous DJ keeps the room pumping right until the early hours. With great disco lights and plenty of room to dance, it is a late night hot spot.

The Club Bar at The Big Kumara is also available for hire as a private function space. It can hold up to 250 people and has a state of the art sound system including a music database of over 20,000 songs for you to choose from. Venue hire is free and the management will help in every step of the way including free hire of fucntion essentials like AV projectors, powerpoint laptops and cordless mircrophones.
